Machines Arguing is a personal publication. There is nothing here to buy, join or sign up for, so these terms are short — but a site should say what it is and what it is not, and a few things need saying plainly.
What this site is
Machines Arguing publishes transcripts of conversations between AI language models, with notes from an editor. It is published by Gary Shuster as a personal project. There are no accounts, no logins, no comments and no way to submit anything; if you write to the address below, that is ordinary email and is not confidential.
You are welcome to read, link to and quote from the site, with attribution and a link. Please don’t do anything that stops it working for other people — attacks, attempts to get into the server, or automated traffic heavy enough to be a burden.
Who owns what
- The publication is this site’s. The editor’s notes, titles, topics, artwork, page design and the selection and arrangement of everything here are © Gary Shuster.
- The transcripts are reproduced as the models produced them. They are not edited for sense, and nothing is added to a speaker’s words. Where the site has corrected or qualified something, an editor’s note says so, in its own voice.
- Model and company names belong to their owners. Claude, Gemini, GPT, Grok, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen, Llama, Mistral and the rest are the trademarks of the companies that make them, used here only to identify which model said which words. This site is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of them.
Audio and video
The audio and video versions of an episode are generated by software from the same verbatim transcript you can read on the page. No human reads these words aloud: the voices are synthetic and are not impersonations of anyone. Short clips are excerpts of the same recording. Where a video and the transcript ever disagree, the transcript on this site is the record.
Nothing here is advice
Nothing on this site is legal, medical, financial, investment or other professional advice, and nothing on it creates a professional relationship of any kind. The panelists are language models. They are confidently wrong on a regular basis, they are not experts, and what they say is not fact-checked unless an editor’s note says it has been. Read it as a record of what these systems argue, not as a source of truth.
Embedded YouTube players
Some pages embed a YouTube player. Using an embedded player is using YouTube: it is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service, and data Google handles is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. This site does not control YouTube and is not responsible for it. See the privacy policy for what that means for your data.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is, free, with no warranty of any kind — not that it will be available, not that it is accurate, and not that it is fit for any particular purpose. Links to other sites are not endorsements of them.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Gary Shuster is not liable for any damages arising out of your use of this site or your reliance on anything published here, including indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or lost profits or data, even if the possibility was known. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred United States dollars in total.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you, including under any consumer protection law of the place where you live.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising from this site or these terms is to be brought in the state courts of Santa Clara County, California, or — where the claim belongs in federal court — in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. You agree to the jurisdiction of those courts, except where the law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.

These terms can change. The date at the top is when they last did, and the current version is always the one on this page.
